ICMCI 2010 Conference inaugurated on Thursday
23/9/2010 Amman – Minister of Public Sector Development and Minister of State for Mega-Projects, H.E Imad Fakhoury, on Thursday inaugurated the annual conference of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes ICMCI 2010 in Maain.
 
In his opening speech Fakhoury, said that the government is working to support efforts of improving and developing public services and consulting sector, which is a promising sector responsible for providing national economy with excellent exporting services.

"The ministry planned a three-year comprehensive national program to develop the public sector in an advanced and practical system, aiming at providing best services and accountability .It also aims at enabling ministries and public departments to set up and implement policies and procedures which reflect national priorities with emphasis on change from within and in coordination with the private sector" the minister said.
 
The event, hosted by the Institute of Management Consultants and Trainers IMC – Jordan in coordination with the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes ICMCI, was attended by more than 100 participants from 40 countries across the world.
Aneeta Madhok, Chairperson of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes ICMCI, called on participants to take advantage of this significant event for enhancing the efforts of the ICMCI at the regional and the global levels.
 
She added “you can see how important your participation in the coming days will be. We are looking to create a recipe that includes ingredients like wisdom and experience of the ones who were here before us, practical issues of those who are holding offices in similar capacity, voice of spokespersons of our members, and talent and freshness of the first timer in ICMCI. The key to the recipe is engagement. Hope to have that from all present here today.”
 
In his comment, Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Hamdalla Mubarak said: “This conference comes at a time where the management consulting sector needs governing standards and regulations especially in the absence of such regulative bodies in the Arab countries”, warning about the consequences of this negative atmosphere and its effect on the sector and the companies it serves.
He added: “Arab trainers and consultants working in the region are duty bound to consolidate their efforts to benefit from this conference, to stabilize the best practices and enrich the region with the experiences and services it needs.”
 
For her part, Salwa Bameih, IMC Jordan Trustee said that:” The management consulting market in Jordan and the Arab region have noticed a significant growth rates in terms of supply and demand, we have noticed an increasing number of service providers of professional services and this profession became a career for young graduates, hence increasing the need for specialized training and certification.”
 
During the three-day event, participants are scheduled to discuss the global financial situation and the extent to which it affects the consulting management sector.
